The basis for high-quality art is usually a traditional handwork. Ernest Hiltenbrand studied at the Strasbourg Conservatory during his training as an art glass maker and was trained as a horn player. The painter and composer likes to orientate himself on the proportions, harmonies and clear structures of the Baroque and Classical periods. The effects of light and color are often the basic motifs of his oil paintings; they offer space for his own interpretations, even if the abstract series are reminiscent of church windows. Born 1945 in Strasbourg and after first orchestral engagements in Quito, Ecuador and Strasbourg, Ernest Hiltenbrand was horn player for 39 years in the Orchester Musikkollegium Winterthur, Switzerland.
