Ruth Wiesenfeld's works can be found between music, sculpture, installation and performance. Her compositional interest lies within the development of notation techniques, which communicate high sonic precision and sound quality in an associative and direct way at the same time. Over the last years she has worked with the ensemble Ukho (Kiew), the string quartet of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the vocal ensemble PHONIX16 (Guest Composer 2013/2014). Her visual works are being presented at galleries as well as at film and sound festivals. Part of her interdisciplinary projects, she has been continuously working with filmmaker Deborah Philipps and the dance company s h i f t s.
Ruth Wiesenfeld lives in Berlin with her husband and two children. She finished her composition studies in 2007, with a PhD at the Dartington College of Arts, with Frank Denyer in the UK. Before her PhD, she studies choreography at the European Dance Development Center in Arnheim (Bachelor of Arts 1997). Since 2001 she's been teaching at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, as part of the Kurt Singer institute.
