Informationen
The idea of bridging the circle of quintets and of forming a new musical sonority from the combination of the keys C major and F sharp major, which are far apart from each other, runs through all three movements of this sonata in manifold ways. Norbert von Hannenheim, a prominent member of Arnold Schönberg's master class, creates a music full of deep poetry and grotesque soundscapes. In spite of a virtuoso urge to move with many changes of light, every note seems indispensable and placed with extreme precision. Thus the composer articulates a concentrated and expressive work for the duo pair viola and piano through the fruitful combination of tonal contrasts.
